vshavubanim:

At Jewish weddings, we remember Yerushalayim and the destruction of our holy Bet Hamikdash. We break a glass to remember the churban, and many people sing a section of Psalm 137. We remember our greatest tragedy at the time of our greatest joy, as we say in this psalm - “אם לא אעלה את ירושלים על ראש שמחתי” - “If I raise not Jerusalem above my greatest joy”. May G-d rebuild our holy temple and bring Mashiach, speedily in our days.
