As you may have heard, Sydney Uni SRC has adopted a motion to support the boycott of the Technion, as part of the BDS campaign against Israel.
Please take 15 seconds out of your day to sign the petition on the link below, to let the SRC know that we are more than upset with their decision, and that nothing short of a full revocation of the motion will suffice!
I was planning to drop National Politics to continue Hebrew but
a) I’m the only student that has expressed interest
b) the course coordinator who teaches the subject is taking a leave of absence
He suggested that I take a subject about modern Israel instead - using the “you don’t do exams only two essays” to draw me in.
So…to study national politics or Israel?
Pros of national politics
1. I studied a similar subject last year
2. Did well and enjoyed it
3. This year is an election year so it will be really interesting
4. My timetable fits and is all good
Cons of national politics
1. I might be bored because I studied it last year
2. I’m more interested in international politics that national politics
Pros of Modern Israel course
1. It’s what I do what to learn
2. It’s easy to do well in
Cons of Modern Israel
1. My timetable is already all set - I’ll have to play around with it again
2. I’m not sure if it will count towards a politics major since this is part of a Jewish Civilisation and Israel major

Well, I found this in my morning read of the newspaper. Blatant anti semitism in the media? No big deal.

Members of the Aboriginal and Jewish communities have observed the anniversary of a unique protest in Melbourne.
Seventy-four years ago Aboriginal activist William Cooper and his colleagues at the Australian Aborigines League tried to hand a resolution to the German consul-general condemning the Nazis’ persecution of the Jews.
But the consul-general refused to see the Aboriginal delegation, which had walked into town from Mr Cooper’s home in Melbourne’s west.
“On behalf of the Aboriginal inhabitants of Australia, we wish to have it registered and on record that we protest wholeheartedly at the cruel persecution of the Jewish people by the Nazi government in Germany,” his message said.
“We plead that you would make it known to your government and its military leaders that this cruel persecution of their fellow citizens must be brought to an end.”
