Rocks can kill.  But when was the last time anyone was killed by a Palestinian stone thrower?  Has anyone been killed?  How many?

Now compare that to the number of civilians killed in Operation Cast Lead.  Or the number of civilians killed by even rubber bullets fired from IDF guns, let alone “deadly”  bullets.

What should we be focusing on?

Yes, people have been killed in the past. I don’t know how many, but fatalities have occurred.

OCL did result in the deaths of many, however what you need to remember is that most killed were militants; and out of the civilians killed, most were as a result of human shielding.

Asher Palmer (25 yo) and his son Yonatan (1 yo) were killed last year when a rock was thrown at Asher’s car as he was driving near Hebron.

"We have faith in G-d who protects us, and we believe in what we are doing. This is where our lives are, and we try to live them normally. Thank G-d we have five children who are growing up in Hevron, and they go wherever they want, obviously remaining on guard."

Chevron Story!

So.. my mum has a Chevron sticker on her car. Last week, she was stopped at a red light and an Israeli woman (who is also stopped at the light) literally got out of her car, walked to my mum’s car, tapped on her window and asked

“Did you used to live in Chevron?“

My mum was a little confused and answered “No…”

The woman persisted. “Does your son go to the Yeshiva in Chevron?“

My mum - still perturbed answered “No…”

The light then turned back to green and the woman returned to her car and continued driving.

92 Year Old Woman: Palestinians should massacre Jews like we massacred them in Hebron

Is it possible to co-exist with people who wish to massacre you? I think that defeats the purpose of the term “co-existence”.

Baby Shalhevet’s 11th Yartzheit

Today, Bet Nissan, marks Baby Shalhevet’s 11th Yartzheit.

Baby Shalhevet was murdered by a sniper as she was seated in her pram, on the way to visit her grandparents in the Avraham Avinu neighbourhood in Hebron.

(Some of the words are mispronounced or unclear i.e. Sagrance-should be Fragrance. I actually asked his nephew why this was and he told me that Avraham Fried was jetlagged and exhausted. Regardless, the message is still quite clear.)

Cry No More - Yaakov Shwekey

To be honest, it was the video and the footage that made me teary - not so much the song.

I’ve just come back from Chevron (Hebron) where I went to the Cave of the Patriarchs and the Jewish areas. On the way, I went through Beit Lechem (Bethlehem) where I wasn’t allowed to go inside Rachel’s Tomb because I’m a Kohen. Instead, I stood outside next to the security wall and hung around…

When I visited Chevron in 2007, our tour guide promised us, that the places we were walking, our patriarchs and matriarchs once walked.

פרשת חיי שרה

This weeks Parsha recounts Sarah’s death and burial in Maarat Hamachpela.

This week, thousands of people will gather at Maarat Hamachpela in Chevron, where Sarah is buried.

I feel like I have a personal connection to Sarah Imenu as I carry her name.

I hope one day, I can truly exemplify her name, conducting myself with tzniut and true emunah.

Good Shabbos

חברון מאז ולתמיד!

That moment when a Meshulach comes to your door and tells you that he likes the Chevron bumper sticker on your mum’s car. And then asks where you father is.
