You shall not take vengeance or bear a grudge against your kinsfolk. Love your neighbor as yourself: I am the LORD.—Leviticus 19:18[10], the “Great Commandment” #Palestine #hypocrite #jews #israel #Judaism #muslim
While waiting for the train in AlQuds, this Palestinian lady was attacked by a group of Jews who took her scarf off…Welcome to Israel, the only democracy in the Middle East…

This is an on-point critique. The individuals who did this acted COMPLETELY antithetical to the Torah and Judaism. It is a HUGE Hillul HaShem, a desecration of G-d’s name, and a stain upon the name of our People. Completely Wrong doesn’t even begin to cover it.
I am deeply ashamed and angered. This is not the Judaism I follow, this is not the Torah I admire, this is not what I love about my people. For shame. For shame.
Now, while it’s good you didn’t make any generalizations about all Jews and Judaism, your post is problematic because you’re setting yourself, an outsider, as some sort of expert on our faith, scriptures, and religion, and that is NOT ok. (h/t: lazersilberstein)

"Anti-Semitism is the hatred of any Semitic group, including Arabs, Aramaic Syrians, Jews, etc. And Israel since its inception has been stealing the land of Palestine and exterminating Palestinians. It's genocide, one holocaust does not justify another. Palestine has a right to take it's land back and drive the Israelis into the ocean." by Anonymous

And Israel since its inception has been stealing the land of Palestine”

There has never been a nation-state called Palestine. Before that are was called Israel, it was part of the British Mandate for Palestine, before that it was part of the Ottoman Empire, before that it was under Mamluk rule, before that it was under Christian rule, before that it was under Arab rule, before that it was under Byzantine rule, before that it was under Roman rule and before that it was an independent Jewish state that was re-established after the Babylonian Exile and brief Greek rule.

A Jewish nation state existed in the Land of Israel in 538 BCE.

A Jewish nation state also existed in the Land of Israel in 1020 BCE when the monarchy was established.

A Jewish nation state also exists in the Land of Israel since 1948 CE.

Jews arrived in Israel in 13th century BCE.

When was there a Palestinian state? Right. Never.

If there was never a Palestinian state, Israel could have never stolen the land of Palestine! Also, remember, since the 19th century Jews have been buying land in the Land of Israel, aided by organisations such as JNF-KKL.

http://www.jewishvirtuallibrary.org/jsource/myths3/MFmandate.html#5

Also remember, the term ‘Palestine’ was invented by the Romans to minimise the Jewish connection to the Land of Israel.

http://www.jewishvirtuallibrary.org/jsource/myths3/MFroots.html

Furthermore, Israel gained all land rightfully through political sovereignty granted to us by the U.N, and territory gained in DEFENSIVE wars.

“and exterminating Palestinians. It’s genocide…”

Israel is not exterminating Palestinians. In fact, many Arabs are citizens of Israel, enjoying the same rights as Christian and Jewish Israelis. There are Arab members of Knesset, Arab supreme justices and Arab students at the same universities as Jewish and Christian students. The Arab population continues to grow exponentially, how would that be possible if they were being exterminated? For example, in 2012 the Palestinian growth rate is over 2%! That’s higher than Australia!

one holocaust does not justify another”

First, we’ve established there’s no genocide being committed against Palestinians and thus, no holocaust.

Second, Zionism is a movement that preceded the Holocaust by many years. The founder of Zionism was not Herzl, it was Abraham who left his home to live in Israel. At is essence, Zionism is just the return to the Land of Israel and the establishment of a Jewish state there. This was fulfilled by the Jews who were exiled to Babylonia after the destruction of the First Temple and their return with Ezra and Nehemiah. Zionism is a movement over 2,000 years old that is characterised by a return to our homeland. The re-establishment of a Jewish state in the Land of Israel was not because of the Holocaust - it was already in the works before. The early waves of Aliyah and the foundation of political organisations occurred before the Holocaust.

"Palestine has a right to take it’s land back"

As we established earlier, Palestine never existed and therefore does not have any land to take back.

"and drive the Israelis into the ocean.”

And now you’re advocating genocide.

israeli bride Rinat Shiklar, 22, from Kibbutz Alumim near the Gaza Strip, poses for a wedding photo in front of an Iron Dome rocket launcher near the southern town of Netivot June 21, 2012.
Make the picture black and white, and it might as well be Nazi Germany. It’s supposed to be a day she commits herself to ‘loving someone for the rest of her life’ yet she chooses to be photographed in front of a rocket launcher, that will rain down bombs on Palestinian families and children.

Here, I will use a simple 4 step techniques to disprove lies.

1. Provide context.
A woman is getting married. Terrorist groups in Gaza have been sending rockets to Israel daily, since all Israelis withdrew from Gaza.
2. Provide relevant information.
Terrorist organisations in Gaza have sent more than 8,000 rockets into Israel since the withdrawal in 2005. The withdrawal was supposed to be part of the peace process - “we’ll withdraw if you promise not to hurt us”. Obviously, that didn’t happen. Rockets have been raining down on Israel’s southern towns ever since.
The Iron Dome system was implemented in Israel’s southern areas last year to intercept rockets that are launched from Gaza. It is not used to launch rockets into Gaza - it is ONLY used to launch interceptor missiles.
This woman is Rinat Shiklar. She lives on a Kibbutz adjacent to the Gaza strip. Her wedding was earlier this month. Her wedding plans were interrupted due to rockets launched in Gaza. They had to change the location of the wedding as a result of the danger. She chose to pose in front of the Iron Dome because of what it represents. It represents defence, the idea that Jews will never be led like lambs to the slaughter ever again. It represents the idea of remembrance and “lest we forget”. It represents the idea of Jewish continuity and perseverance - despite our struggles and persecution, we will remain happy, deal with life and our current situation.
Comparisons between Israel and Nazi Germany are completely misleading. Israel’s actions in Gaza are for pure self defence reasons. Unfortunately, civilians are often caught in fire, especially when Hamas uses children, schools, hospitals and civilians as human shields. In comparison to this, Nazi Germany advocated the systematic genocide of an entire people.

4. Analysis
A bride posed in front a defence mechanism in order to pass onto her children and publicise her experiences and ensure the remembrance of the constant threat that Israelis in the south of their country experience every day. This has no parallels to Nazi Germany as this defence mechanism is not used for offensive purposes at all. Furthermore, Gaza is only attacked by Israel in retaliation for constant rocket firing into Israel. Moreover, it can be said that this picture itself displays the opposite of what Jews experienced in Nazi Germany and what Nazi Germany wished to achieve. This picture is emblematic of nation that lives and continues despite persecution and hardship. This picture represents the capabilities of defence that Jews have now through Israel and the IDF. This picture symbolises the eternity of the Jewish nation and Jewish continuity.

watch the whole video.

I’ve already addressed this video, but I’ll do it again.

The boy, Lucas Koerner, refused to present his ID, an action which justifies his arrest.

He resisted his arrest, leading to the struggle featured in the video. He also bit a police officer in the process of his struggle.

In any country, refusing to present ID, resisting arrest and assaulting an officer, will lead to a harsher/more violent arrest.

My Dear Nemesis (You Gotta Read Genesis)

Why there is no peace

On the first night of Shavuot I participated in a Tikkun Leil program organised by the local Zionist council. The program consisted of different discussion groups chaired by different Madrichim (counsellors/leaders) of the local Zionist youth groups. The entire spectrum of Judaism and Zionism was represented from Reform youth groups to Betar.

I attended a discussion on the existence of settlements in Judea and Samaria and whether or not they impede on Israel’s democratic nature. I believe that after this discussion, I discovered the reason why there is no peace in the Middle East.

Neither the Left Wingers nor the Right Wingers had any respect for each other. It was not an open environment where people legitimately wanted to hear the other side’s opinions and take them into consideration. Rather, both sides were hostile to each other and unwilling to consider the other’s opinions. Each person who spoke was mocked by the opposing side and nothing productive came of the session.

Such discussions on a simple level, like the one I attended and on a larger, more serious, political level will be unproductive and fruitless unless both sides respect each other, respect each other’s opinions and create an environment where genuine debate is appreciated.

So, what’s the moral of the story?

You know your opinion.

I know mine.

We both need open minds and a respect for one another to actually engage in academic discussion. If this ever happens in the Tumblr community…I’ll be really pleased.

Maybe, if we can do it, we can actually make an impact!
